New Year Interior Design 2021

One of the most thrilling feelings when preparing for the New Year is probably that anyone can feel like a decorator. In this short post, I gathered everything I found across the Internet about how to decorate your home for the New Year. Plus a small selection of stores in our city where you can look for Christmas tree ornaments, a tree, and everything else for the holidays

About the trends

I will quickly run through the trends. Today, the most fashionable trend remains 'Scandi Christmas'. Or, Scandinavian-style decor. Maximum minimalism, plenty of natural colors, and more white in the decor.

A special feature of this year is a lightly decorated tree. You can even limit yourself to literally ten baubles. The main thing is that your holiday tree looks as beautiful as possible. And you can always complement the decor with string lights.

One can also mention the trend for clear glass baubles and icicles (invisible decor), as well as candles. After all, what holiday is complete without candles?

The next trend is retro. It is more popular and welcomed than ever. So feel free to pull out old ornaments from your parents, or even better, your grandparents, and decorate your home for the holidays.

Ornaments made of glass, metal, and textiles are especially appreciated... with old-fashioned embroidery, craquelure (crackle glaze), and scuffs. By the way, Soviet-era ornaments are currently in demand, and if you style a modern apartment with them properly, you will get a very interesting ensemble.

And a couple more words about trends: many debate whether a live or artificial tree is better. Five years ago, we said that one shouldn't cut down young trees for the sake of a few days of celebration... But today, you can peacefully buy a live potted spruce and then plant it on your property or at the dacha. Personally, I have always preferred live trees. But modern artificial ones are so good that even I find myself wondering which tree is better.

Here are a few places where you can buy live potted spruces in Bishkek

If you have decided on the tree, theme, and decor style, it's high time to think: what are you going to decorate?

In my opinion, there are several elements of holiday decor that are definitely worth your attention: winter festive table setting, the tree, and holiday arrangements wherever your interior permits.

A few words about table setting. Since simplicity and clean lines are especially in vogue today, perhaps this will become the starting point in choosing decorative items. Fine white porcelain, clear glass, pastel ceramics, linen tablecloths, plus spruce twigs, distinctive napkins, and bauble arrangements will create just the right atmosphere of coziness and celebration at your table.

Candles make a great addition to the table setting. A live flame can make any decor more vibrant and fill the interior with warmth.

A few more great options, in addition to the tree and table setting, are decorating doors with Christmas wreaths, dressing up the fireplace, styling window sills, wrapping gifts, hanging string lights, and simply swapping the home textiles for something more festive.

Of course, if you enjoy decorating the tree, I am sure you will get all the decor in advance.
